We recently moved into a new build property that has the lovely dot n dab plasterboard walls with hemelite blocks (http://www.tarmacbuildingproducts.c...locks/aggregate_blocks/hemelite_standard.aspx) behind.

I need to put up some curtain poles, but I'm unsure on the best method. I was originally planning to use battens, but now i'm thinking of:

Drilling through into the hemelite blocks
Filling with Gripfill in hole and in cavity between plasterboard/block
Inserting frame fixing screws/plugs 80mm (http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/510000)
Allowing gripfill to set then tightening

Does this sound reasonable?

Fine I would say although I have always managed to just use ordinary plugs drilled into the blocks and long screws without the need for anything additional. Much will depend on the weight of the curtains so your method sounds ok to me.
