Hi, I want to make a hifi stand using granite tiles for the shelves, can I just cut the tiles with a diamond blade in a handheld grinder or am I likely to make an awful hash of it, and what would I use to finish/polish the cut edge?

you can do it this way, but make sure you take your time and go really gently on it, let the blade do the work without pressure, you can pick up a rubbing sone for a few pounds,, once you rub the edges down it will be a smoothe finish, also use a really flexi adhesive if your sickin it down so it stays down, good luck also like any natural stone tile you need to use an impregnator on it after your finished this stops the tiles soaking in ink etc and permanately staining them
