Hi all,

I am laying a small area of granite floor tiles - something like these...

http://www.toppstiles.co.uk/section108/page1/granite-tiles/

Can't quite remember exactly, but I think they are roughly 9mm thick.

I understand I need a "water cutter" - is this the right kit for the job (the 180mm option)? What type of blade do I need?

http://www.hss.com/g/7411/Bench-Tile-Saw-180mm.html

I'm feeling fairly confident but some of the cuts will be quite small strips - no way to avoid it. How easy is it to get a decent finish with a narrow strip? What about a decent finish with the edges of the tiles- do they chip or cut cleanly?

Any advice gratefully received.

Cheers,
Dan

tiles and cutter look ok

i usually score granite proir to wet saw cutting then any ragged edges use a rubbing stone

I did some 600 x 300 x 10 recently for a custom fire surround; new sharp diamond wheel (with a new cutter that shouldn’t be a problem) & a rubbing stone to re-polish the edges, as tictic says.

Measure accurately & take your time; you won’t want to make ANY mistakes at the prices they cost

 ..com on rich that ..A ..and ..I ..are on the otherside off the keyboard?
