Following on from my recent post about how to fit a panel - next question: What do I cut it with?

It's 18mm thick, "wood effect". Chipboard inside (I guess - the vanity unit was) and plastic veneer type coating. Options I have available to me:
1) Circular saw - but I suspect it'll be a rough cut and chip the coating lots.
2) Jigsaw - Same worries as above, plus it will be wobbly.
3) Hand saw? Carpenters saw perhaps, or a fine tooth hacksaw?
4) Electric plane - but I don't think it'll like the plastic coating much.

I have to cut both dimensions so one is nearly 2m long.

All suggestions welcome.

If you circular saw is in good condition and your using a guide it should only chip bits off the top side, thus cutting it with the good side facing down (wood effect side down, chipboard up) should give you a nice straight un-chipped edge, I normally cut it almost to the end then finish it off with a fine tooth saw as the circular could chip the outer edge.

Don't use the jigsaw, by hand would prove difficult, planing it could take forever depending how much you need to take off.
