Cutting and Joining water barrel pipe???

My incoming water pipe comes up into what will now be a downstairs loo and it is water barrel. The first joint though is too high for the sing unit I will put in place, so I need to cut and join the pipe.

Is it possible to do this while the pipe is in place and pretty tight against a wall? The house is a 1935 ex council house, so I'm guessing the pipe is that old.

Wondered if cut whether a rubber joint, one of those with jubilee clips would enable me to make a joint? I know this type of joint is used on larger water mains, but is anything made for this type of scenario?

Are these able to be purchased at specialist plumbing outlets, Screwfit and Tool station dont recognise the name

The details state for joining metal pipes. If you have experience of these Lee, is it the outside diameter of the pipe that is the 'size'?
