Evening,
I need a fire door for a non-standard opening of 1965 height.
My local merchant does a 1981 door.
Can I cut it to size and glue a 10mm hardwood strip to the bottom with fire rated glue?
I've heard this can be done but not sure.
Thanks.

It depends what the manufacturers specifications allow, find the data sheet for the door and it will tell what you are permitted to cut off the top & bottom.

If necessary, you can buy doors in uncommon sizes. I presume from what you say that the width is standard.

Mine are made by Premdor, but there are a couple of makers, they are sold under various brands. Browse their website.

AFAIK you are not allowed to cut anything off the top, because the certification data is printed on it.

The one I just checked says you are allowed to cut 10mm off the bottom and 10mm off each side.

I am assuming you need this door to confirm to Building Regulations requirements.
