Is it OK to cut in to floor beams to connect waste pipes to a shower tray ?And do i need to reinforce the beam ?I am fitting a new shower to a chipboard floor and guess what the waste outlet is right on or very near a beam so the pipe work will need to at last cross over the beam . The shower tray is ceramic ! Ie heavy and is a Quadrant type, with no clearance underneath for the waste.

Would be best to drill hole in centre of beam rather than notch it out. Depends on depth/height of beam and whereabouts in the span it is.

Post this info and the more tech guys on here will be able to advise you better.
