cyber shocker

For those who know what these are... I wonder if you have any ideas on this please?

(cyber shocker is remote controlled toy )

It works at pals houses and it works at hubby's work.(different towns to where we live)
It doesnt work at our house and this has caused great disappointment to our son.
It was a birthday gift and is an expensive waste sitting on the shelf.

Can anyone suggest anything we can do to make the signal work here?

There's no inherent reason why a remote control toy could work in one place rather than another, so its down to checking the basics, I'm afraid.

1) Are you using the same remote control as in the other places. There are two different frequencies these things can work on, and so the remote you are trying to use now may be set to the wrong one. Is there any chance you could have picked up the wrong remote by accident, and someone else somewhere also has one that doesn't work now ?

2) Check batteries in the remote and the shocker itself

3) Are the remote and the shocker both turned on ?

Failing that, take it back to the shop. I can't see that interference could be causing it....

Don't forget that as with all remote controls, you have to turn the thing that is being controlled off when you're not using it. This is because the device has to constantly "listen" for commands given to it by the controller, this makes the batteries go flat pretty quickly. I used to use re-chargable batteries in our kids remote controlled toys. Unfortuately my wife couldn't seem to get the hang of this, and routinely used to chuck £10's worth of rechargeables in the bin, and replace with duracell's

Hmmmm Toffee, we had a weird thing with a furby when the kids were younger. If it was in the youngest's bedroom it would go off on its own but anywhere else we had probs getting it to work. We also had probs with remote control toys in certain areas of that house - maybe try the toy in a different room? It just might be interference of some sort.

Another thing we had were 'action man walkie talkies' we took four sets back to Argos and in the end didn't bother. None of them would work in our house or surrounding area but worked fine at my parents house and also my brother-in-laws - weird!
