when i buy a surround sound system ,does this mean that as well as getting dvd through the 6 speakers will the tv/ video also come through the system

Mine does ! You can either have the TV speaker or surround system speaker but not both. A lot depends on your TV plug in accessories unless your TV is very old. The details requirement will be on the box instruction.

The best way to connect your TV is via a Scart to Audio lead, this way if you still use Video/Sky just set your Amp to the setting where you've connected the TV to and you should get whatever your watching comming out of your Surround/Pro-logic system.
