I would like to fix a dado rail on the wall along the hall and up the staircase. I have a mitre saw to correctly cut the rail, but i don't know the angle of the stairs. How do i measure the angle?

measure the height you want the dado and mark it on the wall at bottom of stairs do the same at the top then draw a line wher your dado is going to be.you need a bevel, if you havent got one get 2 pieces of wood 1" by 1/2" put 1 nail through them at the end so they are fastened together open them to the angle you need then mark the wood....ian
