Hello first post so go easy.

I am chasing a mains cable into a wall as it is currently in a plastic trunking. As it is fairly old it had a shed load of paint sealing it and as I have opened it I have caught the outside insulation.

The individual cables insulation are not damaged in any way so I don't think a splice of any sort is needed.

Is there a accepted insulation I should use before I chase it into the wall and put steel channel over it? Somehow just wrapping in tape didn't seem right :)

Thanks!

Just over tape it with a couple of thicknesses of ordinary PVC insulation tape, it will be fine if the core insulation is undamaged. The grey is just for the mechanical protection of the cores.
