after watching one of those DIY shows.. I've got some new ideas to run past a few people..

can you put a hob in front of a window?

who sells those boards that the make public bathrooms out of?
they're like countertops, but come in differect sizes and are about 18mm thick.. with bullnoses on 2 edges etc.. the lift off panel things..

You may already have sorted out the answers to your questions but just in case ....

I'm not sure what sort of board you're looking for but try IDS ... they're a distributor but will be able to give you local suppliers if they have what you're looking for.

As for the hob; no you shouldn't put a gas hob in front of a window, it's considered a safety hazard. A sudden draught could blow out the gas, blinds or curtains could blow across the flame, or you might lean over the flame to open or shut the window.

You could buy a hob with a flame failure cut out and make sure you don't have blinds or curtains ... but can you guarantee that you or a family member won't forget and lean over the hob to reach the window?

If you're going to do it; it would be safer with an electric hob.

Yes you can out he hob in front of window, assuming it's sealed, you didn't say?
No sure about the panels you mean, many are just laminated sheet made up to suit each job in the workshop, though you can get shower panels ready made, they are 10mmm ply with laminate surface and water proof. I bought mine from a supplier in south wales.
