Damp around bay window where drive meets it

The place I just bought had the front garden turned into a drive way, the drive way runs flush to a ground floor bay window. The drive has a gradiant in it and the water should drain away from the bay window into a drain. However it appears its not that good at it and the bricks in the bay window and the pointing is breaking loose and appear damp, water appears to be getting stuck in the concrete between the pathing slabs.

Had a couple of people round to look at it, some have said I need to cut the drive way back from the bay window by around 12 inchs and fill the space with stones etc for drainage around £500, one chap though said just repoint it with a stronger mix than paint some water resistant paint on the bricks £200.

Ive looked at a lot of houses now and most who have had the drive done run flush with the house with no drainage. Any opionions. ?

provided there is a drain nearby, you could install a linear drain trough with steel grille.
 
is the drive above or below the damp proof course !!!!!!

it should be about 2 bricks below the dpc
