Hi just a quick one.

I need to damp course my house. The outside wall is a double skinned brick wall with a cavity. Can I drill from inside the house into the void or does it need to be from both sides?

Also I assume the damp course is to go the full perimiter of the property?

Cheers.

If you've got a cavity you should already have a dpc. If you have a damp problem look for the cause and not the effect, otherwise you could be wasting your time and money!

Regards

now why do you need to installa dpc to the outside skins?
all you need to do is install a new dpc to the inside skin MAKING sure the cavities are clear, jobs a gooden.

Cheers guys.

Im rennovating a house, and thought it would be worth doing now while the house is as a shell, hopefully to avoid any potential damp.

well as its a shell, and only when you have made sure YOU NEED TO INSTALL A DPC.open up holes on the inside approx 2'-3' apart say 9"x9" so you can clear the cavities of all crud and debris to below orriginal dpc level, once done use some thermalite blocks to make good, install dpc, then once allowed to dry out then plaster.
