Hello

I have some small areas of damp on two walls, one faves the outside the Rotherham in internal, the walls feel tacky in the winter bleach will not erase it, I’m asking by brother to skim it, do we have to paint a damp solution 1st, then is this it.
Is it normal plaster, please advise.

Regards

What is on the other side of the wall? Why is it damp? Is it a kitchen?

Plaster does not cure damp.

Strip off the coating and look underneath. I think hot water and a scrubbing brush or scraper.

Stand back and take some wide pics of the whole walls, floor to ceiling

I thought at first it was condensation mould spots

But it might be damp penetrating through chips or holes in the yellow coating

Your house looks old enough to have lime plaster. Is it pink or off-white?

Hello

John I appreciate you’re quick response, I can’t take full walks shots as yet we can’t move, one wall is an outside wall upper bedroom , other wall is internal wall which on the other side is the stair wall.
Can we use a damp paint before plastering, or does it need a damp inspection.
Or as you said strip off the yellow.

you have to find the source of water, and fix it.

Might be condensation from steamy showers and wet washing, worsened by lack of ventilation.

Might be water from a gutter or downpipe

might be water from a badly sealed bath or shower in an adjacent room

might be water from a room leak running down in the corner

We don't have enough to diagnose it.

youi can give the wall a good scrub to remove existing mould and dirt, and watch to see what happens

plastering will not cure damp.

Do not allow anyone who sells silicone injections, or magic waterproof plaster, or concealing paint, into your home.
