Dangers of wall drilling Electrics Gas Water

Is there are any way of testing or finding out if you're about to drill into a water pipe, gas pipe or the electrics?

Common sense helps, as a socket should have it's feed running vertically or horizontally.
You should be able to gauge by where the cables come into the backbox although it's far from 100%
Water pipes tend not to run in walls and at a guess gas pipes also?

But the sockets feed, the cables can be anywhere in the wall.

No they can’t.There are regulations.What age is the property.?

There is a metal detectors and a live cable detectors, some do both, but they are not absolute.
