What make you using ? Hard to get nice ones now

I just bend them in a bit. When you cut them you get lines - when you bend then you don't.
this post mirrors what i've just done or not done i done, i've just skimmed my bedroom and done a bullnose corner in my bedroom but the bullnose runs all they way to the floor skirtings going to look crap as you can see in the pic i've been thinking of shaping the corner at the bottom with an external 90 degree angle trowel using easyfill not sure yet as i think it still wont look right, i think it origonally went to the floor but cant be sure as the corner came off with the old skirting so i shaped it with the bullnose angle trowel and a bit of bonding not thinking about the skirting board, by the way rc they have closed haslar hospital more cutbacks im afraidWhen we did external angles, onto brick/block,, (bb),, before beading,,, the corner was formed with the float coat, using the batten as Micilin said, but we never left the corner sharp. The following day, while the coat was still "green", we rounded it to a bullnose, or even a smaller pencil round, (depending) using a wooden float and a water brush. The bottom 5 or 6 inches of the corner were left at 90%, to allow the skirting to fit close. The wall/s were then set using siraphite, and the finished bullnosed corner, after troweling, was finished with the piece of polythene, dipped into water, and gently run down the corner from top to bottom,, without stopping. A square "sharp" plastered external corner (bb) was easily damaged, especially in houses/busy areas, and could also be dangerous. We used Keenes Cement (remember that) on external corners in the corridors of Haslar Hospital, Gosport when i worked there in the 60's, because of the extra strength needed, (trollies being pushed around etc). In the houses, we did window reveals and soffits with the external angle tool because they were less easily damaged, but put a round on door reveals, again to prevent damage to the corner. Forming a wet corner without a bead,, just using a batten,, and not even fixing the batten to the wall, just using the suction of the float coat to hold it, and then carefully slide it up and away to use it on the opposite side of the corner is a work of art. One wrong move and you pull off, what you've spent hours to put on. No big deal with quick setting gypsum plasters of today, but if you got it wrong with a cement render/float coat, late in the day, it was a set back.
cheers rc i cant picture what the birds beak should look like is it a slope that runs from the flat bottom to the bullnose ? and are you saying make the slope itself with hardwall? could you explain what shape should take please? also if the skirting is 4 ins high should i still flatten 5-6 ins off? and how wide from the corner(long ways) arrrgh ive turned into an op, anyone got any pics of a bird beak for me to copy? please? yes rc good luck to pompeyCheers for that Steve,,, it does spoil the look of the skirting, when the bullnose corner runs right down to the floor. I reckon you could "rough up/pva",, and even tap in half a dozen 25mm galvanised nails to help with the key,, then square off the bottom 5 or 6 inches, using Hardwall. Form the bird beak at the top, where it meets into the bullnose itself. Go for it Steve,, i would,, It'll look perfect.
I did know about Haslar Hospital,,, when i worked in there with a building company, it was a Royal Naval Hospital. It had been a hospital for over 250 years or so. My sister, who lives in Gosport, keeps me up to date with the goings on Gosport, Fareham, Pompey etc.
Talking of Pompey, it's great they're in the FA Cup Final, after beating Tottenham Hotspurs.

Good luck to them in the final.
cheers m8Yes,, make the whole thing with hardwall, for all it'll take. I'll have a look on Google for a picture or two, to show you what i'm talking about.
It's like a small "Y" shaped slope that comes from the bullnose and joins into the 90% corner. I would start this shape 1 " above the finished skirting,,,, or, 5" up from floor level.
thanks anyway m8 all help apprieciatedI can't find a picture, done many in my time but don't know the name of them.![]()
