Can you get stuff that you can squirt into your radiators to get rid of sludge ? should you use a corgi man for this or could you do it legaly yourself ?

fernox f3 and hyperflush are my favorite. leave in for about 4 weeks.
read FAQ for lots of info on this

like i said: read FAQ

We have 2 FAQ's on this site & 1 FAQ does not have anything about de sludging central heating systems in it, the FAQ is for help using the forum.

Perhaps you are meaning the Wiki & this page which says nowt about adding stuff.

Or perhaps this guide about rads yet still no idea on how to add additives.

Although if you google the additives they give instructions on the site for it.

:D

doing the job with weak chemicals that can stay in for up to 4 weeks will make a minor difference so i wouldn't call it de sludging, it's more like rinsing the system through. if your system works fine and you want to give it a little freshen up then you can get a tube of fernox restorer with an injection kit so you can inject it straight in to a rad.

5, 8, 24, and 28 all deal with cleaning the system.

maybe i should have added:

read: "announcements" at top of first forum page
as well as
"wiki" section

to put the cleaner in:
buy cleaner
bring it to header tank
open container
poor in tank

if you want to put it in a rad:
isolate rad
empty rad
poor liquid in
and re-connect rad to system

if putting in the header tank don't just pour it in it'll be useless as the cleaner all stays in the tank and makes skin form on top of water, no cleaner gets in the system

if pouring in to the tank, tie the ball valve up, drain enough water to empty the tank and a bit more, pour cleaner in then let ball valve fill back up

I would also add, bale out any mud from the F&E tank first and sponge it clean, no point in washing that muck down into your rads.

When you are doing your initial draining (to let the chemical in), consider if your drain-cocks are convenient and adequate as you will need to do a complete drain and flush in a few weeks after you have loosened the sludge.

If not, you can get a radiator valve with drain-cock attached, or add a conveniently-placed full-bore cock that will accept a hosepipe. Preferably put it on a return pipe which will be a bit cooler, it seems to me this makes valve last longer. Get new washers for any drain cocks as you may find the old one is perished.

If you can afford an extra £100 and do basic DIY plumbing, fit a Magnaclean as well. I guarantee you will be amazed and delighted at how much black sediment it traps, and this will prevent future black material accumulating into new blockages.

screetch just 1 tube ? (3 bedroom house ) everything works ok, my service guy just checks the boiler feels the rads and says its all good £50 please lol
