Ok, I'm hoping this thread will be treated at least semi-seriously as I'm genuinely interested to know your answers on this.

If you could go back in time to see a singer, band or group that's no longer with us, who would you choose and why? There's a rule to this magic wish however, you can only choose once, therefore you can only give one answer, so think and choose carefully.

Probably on the predictable list but for me it would be Elvis. Have always enjoyed his music and in his heyday I reckon one of his concerts would be awesome to behold :)

Obvious choice, The Beatles.

Not so obvious, Al Jolson, my mom loved his music and I've watched the film (The Jolson Story) many times (great film)

This guy. He was such an amazing singer in his day...

Any big name act that i have seen live has always been a disappointment - much prefer their studio music,

one exception was ac/dc live at newcastle city hall (the proper ac/dc with bon scott) they were something else

so back to the question - i probably would choose not to in case it change my opinion

Kudos (y) @Munroast for seeing Bon Scott in the original line up, since that was just a tad too early for me. Way before my time was the 1972 Hawkwind 'Space Ritual' tour with their classic line up of whom, Lemmy, Dik Mik, Nik Turner and the irrepressible Bob (Captain) Calvert are no longer on this plane of existence. The original live album is one of my most prized possessions and if they ever get round to inventing a time machine, my first stop will be one of those gigs.

Talking of singers, however, the one i'd like to see again more than anything would be the incomparable F. Mercury esq. The '79 concert in Birmingham is a cherished memory and one of the best shows i ever saw.

probably 78 so I would have been 16 - wife tells me it wouldn't have been newcastle city hall but the mayfair (probably had a capacity of 6 or 7 hundred - the noise was phenomenal (left my ears ringing for a week) would always get deafened at the mayfair - (and if you didn't get beaten up by some nutter was a bonus too, it was a wild place)
never forget 'whole lotta rosie'
