Dealing with small cracks before decorating...

3yr old house, has settled a bit and there is the expected cracking around door frames, window sills and skirting boards. An abundance of caulk was used in building it.

So, one of the rooms is to be decorated to be a nursery - what is the best way to deal with these cracks etc before painting / wallpapering. Glosswork is going to be done in Zinsser 123 then with water based satin, sick of the gloss going yellow. Walls will likely just be emulsion.

If you think that the movement is likely to persist, consider using a MS polymer especially where plaster walls meet something like uPVC window frames. Examples include CT1, Everbuild PU40, Sixaflex etc. They are more expensive than standard caulks but are as flexible as silicone but unlike silicone they are paintable.

Happened to my new build many years ago. Scrape out old / cracked caulk and simply re-caulk and paint. Job done.

Will look about getting some flexible caulk... but is caulk the thing to use even in the cracks in corner of skirting etc?
