Deck over existing raised area

Still in the process of planning, and just wanted to know whether the following is OK or a silly idea.

I'll be using 2 joists joined at a post for the outer frame of the deck, could I do something like the following to join the joists (plan view):

If post A is concreted into the ground, could I cut a 6 inch piece of post for B and bolt all of the way through both posts and the centre joist?

Then bolt the outer joists into A and B?

Hope that makes sense, and would it work? I don't really want to have to concrete 2 posts into the ground.

yes, although I always make frames of 4 pieces and bolt the two frames together. I wouldnt bother with an off cut of a post for B, if you intend dong it that way - just use a length of your framing timber (6x2).

Do you mean bolt a piece across the front of the 2 joists? Will that be much better structurally?

The only reason I have planned in this way, is to avoid having to cut all of the joists. And also, the joists really need to sit flush at the front so that the deck doesn't come out further than it needs to.

The frame will be made up of 3 metre joists so the gaps between joists need to stay at 3m to make things easier for me.

However, if it's not as strong doing it as above, then I'll have a rethink.
