Hi

I've found a place online where you enter the size of your deck you want and they provide everything you need to finish your required deck

For fixing the joists together you are provided with a tub of 100mm galvanised nails.

Are they sufficient for fixing joists together? I would of thought screws would provide a stronger fixing. Probably not a job until next year now with other projects on the go and planned but like to price things in advance to get an idea of price and how to do things.

Cheers
James

You tend to only really get shear forces where joists meet so nails would suffice. Arguably, nails might actually be better as the diameter doesn't have to be reduced to cut the thread like it does with screws.

That said, screws tend to be easier to work with and are my preferred choice.
