Hi everyone, SWMBO wants our decking grey and so I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a grey stain. I'm a little wary of the Ronseal type products as I've read they're more like a paint and just sit on top of the wood and quickly wear away.

Any advice welcome,

Thanks

Anton

They are all just paint type products im afraid. Regular re application before it starts flaking is the best bet. Im not a fan of them to be honest as ive seen so many go wrong after a few years and once its starts flaking.......

I've used the Cuprinol Silver Birch one a few times, its a very nice shade https://www.cuprinol.co.uk/decking/index.jsp it doesn't flake though but gets dulled/thinner/patchy so obviously does need a reapplication every couple of years. And too heavy handed with a power washer will blast it off which in a way is not such a bad thing as you know you'll be able to go back to square one if you wanted to.
