Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what kind of material to use for a subframe for composite decking that will have glass balcony posts screwed into them. Ideally I would like to use something other than timber for longevity but nothing seems wide or deep enough for screws the posts require for a secure fixing (80mm for timber). The decked area will be located on a flat roof of size approx. 3m x 3.6m.

Thanks!
Dave

putting the technical to one side for just now
roof terraces seldom get planning permission due to overlooking issues
do you have planning permission granted ??

Needs a structured engineers solution really. Has the flat actually roof been built as a floor, structurally speaking? Or are you just plonking a deck on top of an existing roof?

It's been built to support a floor, however the roof is fibreglass so not keen on using that as the finished deck and drilling posts through it.

Thanks,
Dave
