Deionising air purifiers

I saw a display of these on offer at half price in Lloyds chemist yesterday, they are supposed to freshen the air and remove dust and allergens

I remember reading a Which review of them years ago, which surprisingly said they actually work... but some users didn't like them because they cause dirt and dust to fall out of the air and settle on the table where the device was standing

I get hayfever, itchy eyes, and am a bit athsmatic.

Anyone tried such a thing? What do you think?

My wife and youngest son suffer too but since I got rid of all the carpet they have noticed a big difference.

I still have a Rotel SQ Quadraphonic amp in the junk room.

A long long time ago I used to have a bass-heavy third speaker fed from the L+ and the R+ of a stereo amp, it really did improve ambience.
