laptop about a month old, bottom line whats happening particuarly when posting a reply on here, when i start typing a little fast the cursor suddenly jumps to another place in the box.
but it doesnt just happen here, it first started on msn messenger.
out of frustration last night i even tried using a notepad the intention to be to cut and paste, and it did it there as well.
ive tried deleting the keyboard several times to reload the driver.
any thoughts before i become violent and use caps lock?

Hi,
Newbie to the forum but not this problem! I'm an IT guy and we used to run Dells at work.

The problem, if the Inspiron is the same as the Lattitude, is the stick having 'Taping when typing' enabled. The setting allows you to use the stick like a mouse button - right pain in the **** as you hit the stick when typing without realising it and cursor jumps to where the pointer is. You end up with a sentence looking like this:

...the quick mps ove the lazy dogbrown fox ju....

Turn this off and the problem goes away. It's buried in the mouse settings - can't recall exactly where.

HTH
Matt
