Hi,

I am painting a countertop for my study in XD Gloss. I am getting a great finish but I cant seem to complete the final coat without at least a few particles of dust appearing. I have seen a lot online about denibing the top coat of cars but I have not seen anything online about denibing the top coat of regular gloss paint.

Is there a way of denibing top coat paint? I have wet & dry paper up to 3000 grit and some SSR2 swirl remover. Does anyone know if I can use these to buff the paintwork?

Any advice or alternative products or methods would be much appreciated.

Jon

You may find the XD is not hard enough even when fully dried/cured? It might be worth a go and then if it fails, construct a temporary booth over the top to stop dust falling. Also strain the paint in case there's dust in it and ultra-clean the brush first.

Have used spray paint on similar projects, thin coats dry quick and hard wearing
