depth of stone lintel

our house is 1910 brick built with no cavity. how deep do you think the window cills will be? are they likley to rest on the internal brick skin?

i have to raise a cill after having a new window fitted. if it sits on the internal brick work this will interfere with the worktop which is sitting on this.

"If" it's the original it'll more than likely just sit on the external leaf (so it'll be circa 6" deep). Although, the original victorian cills I've come across are normally a lot thicker than the one in your pic and tend to extend down 1-2 courses.

Easy enough to determine for sure, just take a brick out underneath the cill.

ok thanks. the house is 1910 and so i think it is edwardian period, not victorian. this may explain the difference in thickness maybe ?
