I've just started replacing an old metal fuse box in the garage for a modern RCD CU, however the feed from the house doesn't appear to have an earth cable (only 2 core) although it is SWA which is glanded off so I suspect that has been providing the earth.

I've checked the cable that feeds the garage at the house end and it has an earth connection but is an internal grey t&e cable so i assume it must be joined somewhere as it is presented in a black cable within the SWA.

Is it an option to connect the garage end with a banjo/earth tag and take a earth connection to the earth bus bar of the new CU?

New CU is plastic by the way..

That is notifiable electrical work and (with respect) you obviously don't have the competence to persuade your local building control that you are able to design, install and test the works to comply with BS7671 and the relevant building regulations.

PLEASE contact a registered competent electrician. Find ones in your area here https://electricalcompetentperson.co.uk/

do you know what earth type you are exporting, and if you should exporting?

have you done the Adiabatic Equation Calculator to determine if the metal armour is large enough to meet the CPC requirement?

does the garage have extraneous metal parts?

Is there an earth wire coming in from elsewhere? An earth rod maybe?

no earth wire coming in, from rod or anything else
So how does it get there? Wireless?
Possibly the armour. You seem not to be sure if about banjo - thats one. It should be there already. I do hope the SWA is properly glanded.
What is the Zdb?

Please get an electrician.
