Detached garage into side extension

Hello all,

Have been looking around online for some help and thought I would sign up and ask away !

We have a detached house with a detached garage to the side, there is a walkway to the garden between the house and garage.

Would we be able to turn the garage into an extension of the house, we want to to knock through the kitchen and make a big kitchen/diner using the garage ?

Would we need to knock it down do you think and re-build or can we just extend ?

Any help would be great, and I'm sure I've not given enough info, so if anything else needed, please let me know !
