If you should venture into B&Q or Sainsburys beware if you think fit to take advantage of their offer of buy 2 get 1 free.

B&Q last week for example, Mrs Pred buys a load of seedlings, 3 X £3 and 9 X £5 so she assumes she will get one of the £3 free and three of the £3 free, wrong.

What should happen is you put them through the checkout and get..

3 X £3 = £9 save £3 = £6
6 X £5 = £30 save £10 = £20
total spend £26 save £13

However through the checkout they always give you the cheapest free.

2 X £5 = £10 save £3
2 X £5 = £10 save £3
2 X £5 = £10 save £3
total spend £30 save £9 so you're £4 out of pocket! If you're caught out demand to put it through the till again in the different price categories.

Does not apply to PP as he's got so much money he can afford to throw it away.

Now if you frequent Sainsburys the same thing happens so a few times Mrs Pred has done the offers first, if you shop at Sainsburys on a regular basis you will know that if you spend about £60 you'll receive a voucher for your next shop worth about £9 if you spend over £70

Now what we found is by putting a few bits through first for a tenner or so when you pay you get a voucher for £7 of your next shop over £50, which is still in the shopping trolley waiting to go through.

Yep, that's why I always split such purchases into separate transactions to make sure I get the best deal.

Dyslexic sign - it was Dick`s Turnip @ the checkout ;) note the greengrocer`s apostrophe. Either way you don`t really think you can win @ any supermarket  they are like Bookies.
