Complete noob

I've seen a lot of posts about PVA v SBR to prime before tiling. Saw them too late. I somehow managed to apply a coat of diluted febond pva over wall's I'm intending to tile in a shower. One wall is stud/plaster, the other is brick, rendered and painted.

Did I completely fluff this or will it be ok?

Should I do a coat of SBR over the top and carry on?

Wash off the PVA somehow, wait to dry and use SBR?

Or do I need to cry while ripping everything down and starting again?

I know this topic has been discussed to death already but haven't seen any posts by anyone as daft as me for not checking first :S please help!

If any damp gets near the PVA it will turn soluble again and everything on top won't be keyed to the wall properly.

If it were me I'd try and take it off one way or another.

There was a post a while back where the builder had PVA'd a bathroom without telling the tiler and 6 months later it all started to come away from the wall (not the tilers fault!).

Thanks Keithmac. If water soluble I guess I can wash it off and prime properly once dried then.

Can I use Mapei Primer G?

It's what is recommended to use with the tile Mapei Adesilex P9 adhesive I have. But can't see anywhere online whether or not I can use this for tiling in a shower.. hoping I can..?

I've only done my own house (bathroom/ wc and kitchen) so best off waiting for a proffesional tiler to come along and chip in!.

All I can say is we didn't use anything sprecial on our bathroom shower walls and it's been fine for 10 years now, I re-plastered the wall and tiled straight over the top.

The PVA thing has been discussed on here a few times and for me it makes sense not to have it anywhere near shower tiles!.
