Sure this must sound like a silly question to some of you guys, but it's not something i've dealt with before.

Customer in South London - Says his skin feels hard after showering! And would like a water softener. So I've looked into them and explained the price he is looking at for one, and also the maintenance involved. He has a megaflow. As i understand he should leave his Kitchen sink cold / drinking water unsoftened? Would a scale reducer make any difference, what does that achieve. does it not also soften the water?

I read this thread, but i still don't quite understand!! Sorry!!

No a scale reducer would not soften the water.

You need a water softener for that, or do any good with an cylinder.

Regs say at least the kitchen tap must be raw water.
