Difference between T&G solid wood and sawn edged wood

i am thinking of buying sawn edged wood which you just butt up and stick or nail down. has anyone laid this before and what experience do you have of it.

i am going to lay 180mm wide sawn oak on 12mm ply which is screwed onto concrete. i will be glueing and face nailing this wood.

ps. do i need to lay sound proofing felt as well.

Make sure the boards are dried to floor specification (moist content between 9 - 11%) and not to timber specification (15%).
