On the same topic as earlier, while the weathers good, I'm thinking I might dig and lay swa feed to garage although it won't be getting wired up for some time, it means I can run it just now and continue working in house without having to make access later to run cables.
Question is, garage is not getting used for much, one ow two wall sockets, for radio and possibly power tool use(but want to take into account someone in future may plug in fan heater or something like that) and upto 4 lights, standard bulbs not security/flood lights.
On my last chat with electrician mate, he told me to get garage fuse box, with 16a mcb for plug socket, and 6amp for lights. There already is a 20a rcbo fitted in the house cu for garage feed, now the tricky bit.
Garage will need 20m of swa to get from house to inside garage cu. and probably 10-15m of t+e in house to get to house cu. I don't have notes with me, but previously worked out 6mm wire to accommodate voltage drop.
My question is, if its possible to save a bit of money without compromising saftey, but running 6mm to rear of house, then using 4mm swa to garage? Both of which would still be suitably protected by 20a rcbo?
It's a prefab garage, I had originally thought it was brick and sized to use it for more stuff but due to its lack of usefulness and size, its really going to be storage, maybe stick my weights out there for a workout here and there, and use calor heater if anything as a 2kw fan heater wouldn't have much effect out there any way.
Just looking for opinions, I know its the usual (I can't afford it) thread, but also don't want to waste money and over do things.
