I have to dig a hole for a point foundation under an existing floor in a post and beam timber framed house.

The last time this was necessary we used a hand held ( two man ) petrol driven auger 450mm diameter working from the floor down between the joists. Hired for a day this auger dug the two holes in a couple of hours.

Now we cannot find that size of auger for hire.

Hole is to be three to four foot deep. Minimum of 450mm diameter. Problem is the floor joists are 370mm above ground level so very restricted access to dig by hand. ( floor boards will be removed ).

The new foundation is due to heavy kitchen equipment arriving in 3 weeks time.
