I have just started my 2nd yr college course and have a slight dilemma which needs addressing. One of the students is quite friendly and am sure is a nice person but has got terrible BO!

This person has sat next to me twice and I had to move away last week!

How do you address this? Is it best to suffer in silence>

Any experiences of how you have dealt with this in the past?

You have a year of it, tell him/her.
At the end of the day you will be doing them a favour, but be discrete.

Find out when his birthday is, or any other pointless celebration, and by him a big can of deodorant.
Tell him you'll be offended if he doesn't make full use of your pressie.

Try and get a couple of 5-7 year olds to sit with him for a while.
They'll just say..."You stink"

I know what its like Bahco, I experienced the same thing a few years back at college.

This guy was rancid. When he entered the classroom the windows would melt. We had three years of this, luckily it was only evening classes so we didn't have to suffer it all day but it was bad enough: All the shuffling around when watching a practical demonstration, trying to position yourself up-wind of him: Tutors and students breathing only through their mouths when he was in the room. It really did make classes unpleasnt sometimes and really all it needed was for someone to say 'You stink, have a wash'.

Is there anyone in your group who is the class joker? Maybe you could get him to say it for you so that the smelly guy doesn't take it quite so hard and might actually have a shower.
