Dimmable downlights 20w fade out after a few minutes.

I have installed 3 x 20w down lights through a dimmable transformer.
I have also installed a dimmer switch. When the dimmer switch is on full their is no problem, however if I turn down the dimmer switch the lights start to fade out almost totally then light up again then fade without any tampering with the switch. Because of this we just have the switch on full all the time. Any suggestions anyone? Would be greatly appreciated.Thanks
