Dimmer light went pop... faulty dimmer switch?

I was sitting here and one of the three lights went *pop*, at the same time throwing the MCB downstairs. When I removed the broken bulb the dimmer turns the lights on at full brightness, so am I right to suppose the dimmer switch transformer has broken?

If so, can these be purchased separately and transplanted as the switch I got is one of those expensive fancy metal ones! It's been working perfectly OK for 3 years.

Appreciate any help.

not sure if that will fit any switchplate.

and yes chances are its the dimmer thats broken. They dont like lamps blowing.

I replaced the dimmer switrch circiut and it's working fine now and I am using Osram fused halogen bulbs.
