dimmer switch wiring

Hi i am replacing two seperate switches in my room with two dimmers. Both switches previously worked independently. i.e either one would switch the light on and off in any order.

i can get one dimmer to work on its own but the other one does not.

one switch has L1/COM BLACK WIRE BROWN SLEEVE
L2 2X BROWN WIRES
L3 1X BLUE 1X GREY BOTH WITH BROWN SLEEVES

other switch L1/COM BLACK WIRE BROWN SLEEVE
L2 GREY BROWN SLEEVE
L3 BROWN WIRE

The two new dimmers have L1 L2 and switch symbol, i am so stuck and one more suggestion off my wife and i am going over the next cliff!! any ideas on what wires should go into the new slots????

You can only have one normal dimmer switch per light - if you try to connect two dimmers to the same light all sorts of things go wrong! You can only have one normal 2 way dimmer and a normal switch per light.
