I have just been given a diplomat gas oven, it is taking more than double the normal time to cook things, there is a lot of heat coming from above the door, can anyone help?

It could be the oven door seal is faulty or the oven door need adjusting or it could be a faulty oven thermostat,possibly even a faulty F.S.D.If it`s the door seal and it`s one of the rubber ones which clip into place,you may be able to replace it yourself,otherwise:-
Get a gas safe registered engineer with the relevant cooker qualification to call.Call gas safe or look on line for someone in your area.
