I have a direct combination tank and its leaking.

It is only a small trickle & not all the time.

It appears to be coming from the joint between the two tanks, i removed some of the foam on the area the water is coming from and all i could see was some air bubbles coming from between the tanks & small trickle of water.

This has been happening for a few months now but like i say it not leaking all the time ! Only noticed it when we found a wet spot on the airing cupboard ceiling.

Any help much appreciated.

Normally any leak means a new tank.

If you drained and removed it you could illegally solder it perhaps.

Or you could drain, sandpaper and try epoxy resin and see if that works. Must be totally dry ( Hairdryer ).

Because of the thermal cycling even epoxy may not work for long.

Ok,thanks.

Can i make a claim on my insurance for a new tank ?

I have now had to drain it as its getting worse,so i now have no hot water, not good with young kids...baths etc.

If i cant claim how much will it set me back to replace it.

I could really do without this right now :(
