Hi,

IMG_20201114_161153084.jpg

I have a range cooker and would like to know how to disconnect / isolate the gas supply from it.

I need to remove it because I am levelling the floor in my kitchen.

Please see attached pic of where the gas comes from supply and then a tube goes from this (picture) into cooker

What do I do to isolate/turn it off?

Thanks

Thanks.

How will you know it’s turned off and not leaking? From asking the question you have I would strongly have to recommend getting a qualified gas engineer to do that for you.

It is simply a bayonet, self sealing connection , you just push and twist and it pops out, nothing to stop you doing it yourself, some can be a bit stiff though

Make sure you can turn the gas off at the meter in case you do have a leak ! The cooker connector turns off inside as you press in and twist the outlet part.

its a bayonet fitting so basically the same as putting in and taking out a standard light bulb. valve seals its self and is perfectly ok to leave it like that with gas on thats what they are designed for . you could double check it with some bubbles

If your at all worried about it leaking then you can get a RGI is to test it and/or fit a blanking plug.

Must admit that over the years I have had a few that have been a real ballache to disconnect, most due to grease and stuff
