dish washer just stopped working

Hi guys,
My dish washer stopped working. The power light comes on when the door is open but go's off when I shut the door. Open the door power, shut the door no power.
When it was working properly, the light stayed on throughout the cycle and in stand by mode.
Is this a simple fix or is the machine ready for the dump!

If you do not manage to repair it & decide to buy a new one, I would suggest that rather than the dump you offer it on your local Freecycle group.
There are plenty of people that will take them & repair them.
