Hello

I have recently moved with my 2 young children into an old property. There is a hole in the airing cupboard wall and I am really worried that it has absestos in it. There is debris on the floor. I presume someone drilled a hole in it.

My biggest concern is that the debris on the floor could have been disturbed when I have gone in there and even worse I think my children played hide and seek in there.

Please advise anyone. Pictures attached.

Thanks so much

It's just plasterboard and jute scrim tape. Stop panicking.

You will have asbestos in your loft though. Everyone does, because cars used to have asbestos brake pads and the dust is in everyone's loft.

Definitely plasterboard so don't worry about it and don't worry about your loft either. The worst thing about lofts is that they normally contain fibreglass insulation which is an irritant so advisable to wear gloves and goggles if you have to disturb it in any way.

Thank you so much to all 3 of you for the reassurance, phew! Really kind of you to take the trouble to comment. You have made my weekend :-)
