dividing fence

Hi All, I am going to put a dividing fence between mine and neigbours front garden. its a "gate " fence 3 ft high 1/2 thick the legs are 7 ins long do I just bash it in the ground or do I need to dig out and bed down with concrete or is that going OTT easy way is the just knock it in but how long will it last before it rots ! cheers P M
 
Get some proper fence posts, at least 3" thick, and attach it to those.
