Hi

So I'm looking to box in the current porch, take off the current flat roof and add a lean to tiled roof. Similar to the design shown.

how would I interface the upvc door unit with the eaves of the roof. Could I just screw a timber joist to the frames and set the rafters off this then put some fascia & soffit on?

if so what size timber?

or should it be some kind of steel box section?

cheers

Ask the UPVC guys to fit an aluminium strengthening post in the external corner so that this can take up the weight of the wall plate.

You will prolly be looking at 125mm x 50mm for the rafters.

Put some thought into the design of the roof otherwise it could look shoite or out of proportion and make your home look like it has grown a wart.

Look at hip designs or duo pitch etc. Incorporate a soffit too. All too often these front porch roofs are built without any soffit overhang and look abysmal.
