Hi,

We've just bought a small terraced house without access to the rear garden other than through the house and I need to build a shed.

Has anyone any experience of using concreted in metposts to form the four corners of the shed? I would then use the vertical posts to hang everything else off.. I'm trying to find ways of avoiding carrying loads of materials through the house.

Thanks!

I must admit I don't like metposts, they usually hit a stone and go crooked, and I don't think they grip the post firmly enough.
You might think of 2repair spurs" these are concrete, they have bolt-holes that you can bolt the wooden posts of your shed corners to. Keeps them off te ground so away from damp and rot. You can have them inside the shed where they won'y show, if you like (makes cladding easier too).

Concrete them in well and use the initial wooden frame to hold them in the right place while the concrete sets.

4-foot spurs should do.

not shure if i understand this on ;)

do you plan just to support a whole shed from the corners!!!!!!!
is it in excess of a meter square!!!!
if so youll need heavy timbers 4x2" ish to support the floor as this will be taking the weight off the shed not the corner posts

so your already exceding the capacity of the metpost

may work if you concrete the posts in but youll still need loads more posts to reduce the shed structure from heavy engineering to normal :D
