im soon going to be putting in some new windows in a proberty i rent,, i have been told that a fencer registered company must put these in ,, as if at a later date want to sell the probery,,, if ive installed them my self there will be a problem with selling ????????
I assume you rent it out to others & not rent from? Yes you may well have problems selling without a compliance certificate. You can DIY the install but need to notify your LABC (fee involved) who will inspect &, if you’ve done it all correctly, will give you a compliance certificate, that’s the bit you need when you sell.
In essence you can employ a Fensa fitter to do it for you (make sure he gives you the certificate at the end) (note that employing a Fensa fitter is not an insurance against dodgy workmanship) or you can fit them yourself and get Building Control to sign them off (about a £75 fee) and give you a Building Regs Certificate.
