I've just purchased a Pegler brass stopcock. Does it need to be DZR?

My water supplier states 'Sightly Hard' for my postcode

1. Almost certainly not in the UK, unless the water is from a well, spring or similar "non-standard" source.
2. DZR = De Zincifation Resistant.
3. Acidic water can dissolve the zinc within brass alloys, leaving a shell of rather spongy copper. Heat treatment of the brass can greatly improve resistance to this process.
4. If you have any worries, check the acidity of the water (litmus paper or a pH meter).

Usually for underground stopcocks or where corrosion of the stopcock can take place (Should be dzr).
